Happy Friday Ya’ll!
Today, I’m doing a review of Cassey’s POP Pilates DVD. I may have mentioned this before but I’m a huge fan of Cassey’s, which is why I just had to get the dvd.
In the past, I thought that pilates was way too mellow for me, kind of like the way I used to feel about yoga. Do not let the deception fool you!
I remember taking a foray into pilates a few years ago, via online videos, but decided it wasn’t my cup of tea. Now that I look back, I’m pretty sure it was because I felt like I couldn’t really connect with the instructors via the tv screen. After doing my first POP Pilates video on youtube, I was completely hooked. Cassey’s sunny personality makes the workouts fun and it truly feels like you’re working out with a friend. Guess the instructor really does make or break a class.
This DVD is a full 60 minute total body pilates workout and the first full length pilates workout I’ve ever done. According to Cassey, this is at an intermediate/advanced level and it sure was challenging for me. Thankfully, modifications are provided, which I gladly did for quite a few of the poses. Even so, I burned about 172 calories which I think is pretty good considering you’re basically on the mat the whole time. Also, you can probably burn more calories by doing the full versions of all the moves, which I still need to work up to.
One of the special features of the DVD is an interactive exercise library, so you can just choose a body area to target if you don’t feel like doing the entire 60 minutes. It also comes with a printable which you can take anywhere meaning no more excuses!
My favorite move of them all has got to be the earthquake. It doesn’t look like much but I can assure you that you’ll be shaking like a magnitude 8 earthquake in no time.
This DVD just makes me love Cassey even more, if that’s even possible. I 100% recommend this DVD!!! If you’re wallet is already feeling a little light or you haven’t heard of Cassey before (do you live under a rock?) then you can check out her youtube channel first. I dare you to not fall in love with her too.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for the review- I always thought it was a ‘meh’ workout but now you have me intrigued!
PS I’m watching the first hunger games this Sunday!

In one video, Cassey is doing a pilates workout with this seriously buff guy known as six pack something. (can’t remember :P) Anyways, Cassey’s just doing her thing while the six pack guy looks like he just wants to lie on the ground for the rest of the workout. So yeah, they are definitely hard core core workouts.
Woohoo, finally!!! When are you watching Catching Fire?

What a very detailed DVD review! I don’t think I have a DVD player, except for my macbook with an unused DVD (probably difficult to insert it now). Wow 172 calories burned, good job!

Thanks Rika! I sometimes use my laptop to play dvds as well but there’s some sort of love-hate relationship going on between them. Half them time it takes 3 or 4 tries just to get them to play. 😛 Hope your dvd player is still functioning! 🙂

You rock! I’ve been looking for a review of this and will definitely buy this (if it isn’t under the tree?)
Shawn Tang says
Thanks Liz! I absolutely love this dvd and I hope you’ll find one under the tree. 🙂

Thanks Jan, and it really is! 🙂
I’m the same way with a lot of things. 😛
