2013 New Balance Run Faster 12k
For this second race, my sister and I followed Hal Higdon’s 10k novice plan. I started running distances I never imagined I’d be able to cover, and though my times were slow, I enjoyed myself, and I guess that’s what counts most. Unfortunately, it was pouring on the day of the race, and it didn’t stop raining. I had to face the inevitable and run in the rain for the first time. Panicking, I scoured running blogs for tips for running in the rain and found some good ones here and here. I can honestly say that it wasn’t the most pleasant run I’ve ever had, but luckily the course was flat, so it wasn’t too bad. I also discovered that I’m seriously terrible puddle jumper, making my shoes super wet. Oh well.
