Yesterday was my first time attending a Super Junior related event since becoming an ELF back in May, and it truly went above and beyond my expectations. To be honest, when the news of the fanmeeting was first out, I was like thank goodness it’s not my bias coming so I can save money for the next SJ event. Well that line of thinking lasted all of 10 minutes. Then it was I have to go playing on repeat in my head 24/7. I was quite nervous the day tickets went on sale and it took nearly seven minutes to get into the ticketing system and purchase my ticket. At first the tickets were all sold out so I was quite pleased with my purchase, but after a few hours the tickets that weren’t paid for within the time limit were put up for sale and some of the available seats were better than mine. I was a teeny bit disappointed at that time, but the venue turned up to be smaller than I imagined and the stage was waaay closer than I thought it would be.
Before I begin, I just want to make a disclaimer that this is all based on my memory so it’s highly likely that the order of sone things as well as sone of the details are wrong. I may or may not fact-check with some of the fancams in the future, but the possibility is low because I’m a lazy person at heart. Speaking of fancams, the fact that any exist is quite amazing to me, because the staff were walking around the entire show checking for people taking fancams and the like. Being the law-abiding/lazy person I am, I didn’t take any photos throughout so I apologize for the lack of photos in advance. Please use your imagination, or search for fancams, or check out sone of the Taiwanese news sites (eg. 自由時報、蘋果、東森…）
Honestly I do not remember what the opening number was (EDIT: Close Ur Mouth), I simply remember screaming my head off and marvelling at the fact that I was seeing the 宇宙大明星(Space Big Star) in the flesh. After that number Heechul went backstage to change while the host came out and brought out the table and chairs for the talk time. The host was a Taiwanese entertainer named 黃子佼 and I felt like he did an amazing job! The banter between the host and Heechul felt really natural and both of them are really good at working the crowd. Soon Heechul came out in an all black outfit. As elfs & petals know Heechul is a big fan of the color red so the back of his top was red and kind of see through. Because Heechul is a big fan of 海底撈(Hai Di Lao) he kept saying that the host’s red top was 紅湯(red soup) and he even took a bite. If it feels like I’m jumping from anectdote to anecdote, Heechul is partly to blame. He kept on changing topics, seemingly from nowhere. Apparently any topic leads back to LOL. In fact he was mentioning LOL so often that he made a pact he wouldn’t talk about LOL again. Let’s just say it wasn’t easy for me. Also, out of nowhere, he mentioned this old Taiwanese zombie movie called 來來殭屍. Nobody really knew what he was talking about so after the fm some people decided to look it up, and it turns out the movie actually exists! Another reason why the host is so awesome is that he moved the table to the side so that we could all see Heechul’s lower body, haha that sounds kind of racy. Speaking of seating arrangments, Heechul, the host and the translator were sitting on these circular chairs that can spin around as well as move up and down. So the host asked Heechul if he(Heechul) wanted the chair to go higher so as to seem taller. At first Heechul said it was alright but then the host said that he was going to raise his chair up so if Heechul didn’t raise his own chair up, Heechul would seem shorter. And Heechul’s chair kept turning towards the host’s direction on its own accord, multiple times too, so that was also quite hilarious.
Then it was the corner where Heechul shared some of his pictures and explained the backstory to us. Just a quick reminder, don’t quote me on the order of events or basically anything I write because I don’t have the best memory. And I didn’t take any pictures of the photos, but I’ll put in some similar ones from his instagram, if I can remember that is. One of my favorites was an old photo pre-debut photo of Donghae, Leeteuk and Heechul. Donghae was facing the front while both Leeteuk and Heechul were facing Donghae. (Their torso’s, not faces.) Anyways in the picture Heechul is standing behind Leeteuk and is practically glued to him so you can imagine the jokes the host and Heechul made. There were also photos of Heechul’s new puppy 조르 as well as photos of his cats Cherry and Heebum.
A photo of Heechul with a headband on his head came up and Heechul was saying that fans didn’t/don’t like it when he wears a headband but he wanted to show off his headband to us. Haha, but everyone was more interested in the food in front of him in the photo. Food pics also came up quite a bit and Heechul couldn’t remember sone of the locations of the photos, but the elfs in the front remembered the details better them him. And remember this picture taken in Japan?
One of my favorite corners was the one where three of Heechul’s close friends spill secrets about Heechul. Heechul was watching those VCR for the first time as well so it was also quite interesting to see his reactions. The first one was by Leeteuk and well you can imagine how loud the screaming was. As most ELFs know, Leeteuk is a huge fan of white while Heechul is more partial to red. Well Heechul’s home overlooks the Hangang, which is a pretty pricy view, but Heechul uses red drapes to cover the view. Also a lot of his furniture is red and he barely has anything in his fridge. In his defense, Heechul said that he travels a lot and that too much sunlight will make his skin too dark. Teukie oppa also mentioned Heechul’s Jajangmyeon story. So one day Heechul’s mother ordered Jajangmyeon (I think it was because Heechul wanted some) but when the noodles came Heechul said that he didn’t want any. Then he proceeded to make some jajangmyeon ramen on his own. And Leeteuk also mentioned that Heechul owes him a meal for MC-ing his sister’s wedding THREE years ago. Heechul promised that he will treat Leeteuk to a meal by the end of the year, so us elfs have to keep him to his promise. At the end of the VCR Leeteuk said 우리는 슈퍼주니어예요!(We are Super Juni-or!) Heechul said it along with him and it was my first time saying 우리는 엘프예요! (We are elf!) so you can imagine the emotion I felt at the moment.
After the VCR Heechul joked that Leeteuk better watch out and when Leeteuk has his fanmeeting, Heechul is going review a lot of secrets. Please come to Taiwan 특이 오빠! I’ve been watching Leeteuk & Kang Sora’s We Got Married episodes, and I didn’t think it was possible but I’m falling in love with him even more. Enough of my fangirling, at one of the many times Heechul mentioned LOL, the host was joking that Heechul couldn’t get a girlfriend if he kept playing LOL that often. Heechul agreed that to get as good as he was at LOL, finding a girlfriend would be quite difficult. Of course Heechul threw in a compliment towards himself. Then Heechul said something along the lines of all the elfs in the audience are all he needs, than he shuddered at what he said. Heechul said that saying mushy stuff like that was Leeteuk’s specialty, and saying it himself was really making his fingers curl. (p.s. This VCR was filmed in a beauty parlor, probably because he’s been really busy these days.)
The next VCR was by Yesung oppa. *scream* Apparently Yesung remembers the exact outfit Heechul wore, in detail, the first time they met. He also said that he was annoyed by how often Heechul asks about his own hairstyle. For example, do I look better with short hair or long hair, with a perm or no perm … Yesung said that such behaviour was very middle schooler like. Afterwards, Yesung mentioned dieting and weight (his is about 56-57 kg.) He said that during the early days, people said that his face was too puffy and bloated, and that his face gets puffy really easily. (Which is why he didn’t join the other members for Ramen in Osaka.) He also said that Heechul should lose a bit weight to about 60 kg. (Currently Heechul is 62-63 kg.) Heechul mentioned that during his debut days he was around 55kg and asked us if he needed to lose weight. Obviously, elfs told him NO he didn’t need to lose any weight. Regarding Yesung, Heechul said that he barely eats and that he and Teukie oppa were worried about Yesung. But Yesung is afraid that he’ll get bloated and puffy. I will literally fight anyone who calls Yesung oppa too chubby and that he needs to lose weight. Obviously Yesung is losing too much weight and those people need to get their eyes checked. *end rant*
The final VCR was by Ryeowook. *SCREAM* There were actually two VCRs. The first one, which Heechul has seen before, was filmed back in August if I remember correctly and we could see Heechul’s reaction from before in the top left corner of the VCR. The second one was filmed 12-13 days before hus enlistment and it was also his first time watching it. Apparently Heechul once wore RED pants to a funeral and he ALSO owes Ryeowook a meal. So originally, Heechul and Ryeowook had agreed on a date for a meal/gathering prior to Ryeowook’s enlistment. However, Heechul had a really busy schedule, filming for Knowing Brothers after flying back from Thailand and then getting ready to go to Japan. After filming, Heechul thought that the gathering had probably ended, so he called and said that he couldn’t make it. It turned out that by the time Heechul got home, the gathering was still ongoing(it lasted for 5 hours), meaning that he could have made it.
In addition to the talk time and VCRs, there was obviously a corner where Heechul did girl group dances. First he asked everyone which girl group is most popular in Taiwan. Another obviously question, Twice, because of Tzuyu of course. Once the topic of girl groups came up, there was no way we’d let him get away with not doing multiple gg dances. I’m not that familiar with girl groups so I know he did more, but I’m sure he did a Gfriend dance as well as Twice’s Cheer Up. Everone wanted him to do Pick Me as well but the music wasn’t ready yet, so he promised that he would do the pick me dance before the finale (Ulsanbawi) with or without music. Luckily the music was found in time and I got to see Heechul dance Pick Me with my own two eyes! After Pick Me was the finale and Heechul was visibly out of breath, throughout Ulsanbawi, he said quite a few times that he was so tired, haha.
The last portion of the event was Heechul singing. He sang 鄧麗君’s 月亮代表我的心, Evanesce, Rokkuko, Narcissus, and Ulsanbawi. (Pretty sure I missed one and that it wasn’t in this order, oh well.) Obviously, KRY are the most skilled vocally in Super Junior. However, I think that the other members are quite talented vocally as well, especially when they choose the right songs to highlight their voices. Not sure if I’m making any sense, but what I mean is that I love the singing voices of everyone in Super Junior. I’ll put in the official music videos for the songs, if there is one; and some commentary, when I feel like it.
月亮代表我的心 Heechul’s pronunciation was pretty good and I really loved this performance. And the VCR with Kyuhyun was quite hilarious. In the VCR, Kyuhyun and Heechul sing this song together. Kyuhyun wonders why Heechul’s pronunciation is weird and it turns out his looking at song lyrics written in hangeul!
Evanesce I just really love this song, and it was nice to hear Heechul rendition of this entire song by himself. Now please excuse me while I break the replay button onthe music video.

Rokkuko During this song, Heechul came into the audience (sadly not to my area) and everyone was screaming like crazy, pretty sure you can imagine the scene. p.s. So many of SuJu’s music videos are so very weird, in a good way of course.

Narcissus Heechul’s vocals are truly truly amazing in this song, and the 應援 (fan support?) during this song was beautiful.
The 應援團 (fan support team?) for this event worked very hard and put in a lot of effort for this event, and for this song, they made heart shaped cutouts of this yellow plastic(?) material which work like yellow glowsticks when you put your cellphone flashlight behind it.

Ulsanbawi Honestly I thought this song was just okay when I first heard it, but it’s definitely grown on me. Like I mentioned earlier, Heechul danced Pick Me right before this emotional song, so he was a bit winded. He still killed this song though, though he did mention that he was out of breath a few time throughout the song.

And here’s Heechul’s Pick Me commercial, simply because I feel like watching it again.

Regarding the initial disappointment thing I mentioned in the beginning. Well luckily, it all turned out well and I even won the chance to take a picture with the 宇宙大明星(Space Big Star) himself. 150 people won the chance to take a photo with him and Heechul remained super professional and friendly throughout the whole thing. 130 of the 150 people were drawn from everyone who had bought a ticket (the more expensive seats had more chances to win) while the remaining 20 were drawn from those who bought a ticket + bought Heechul & Jungmo’s new album from Avex.
So glad I resisted the temptation and waited for the Taiwanese release instead of buying the imported Korean version. Even though Jungmo is uber talented and Trax is definitely very underrated, I was pleased that the 小卡（card) I got from this album and the previous one was of Heechul.
I really appreciate how the photo event was organized because it was after the fanmeeting had finished (so as not to interrupt the event) and while it was super efficient with one person going after another really quickly, the staff helped hold our bags while we were getting our pictures taken and they took more than one picture. Heechul is much taller in person than I thought he was, then again maybe I’m just too short. Also, he is very very handsome in person, not that he doesn’t look great on screen and it’s not like I’m biased or anything. Speaking of biases, prior to this event I already had six biases (KRY, D&E, Leeteuk), but Heechul is definitely another one of my biases now.
And his instagram posts using traditional Chinese characters certainly didn’t hurt either.
Can’t believe it’s taken me a couple of hours to write this post, but I enjoyed every second of it because I can’t wait to relive this event, even if it’s in my own head. I have yet to calm down since last night and I’m really really looking forward to Super Show 7 right now.
