- 2012 New Balance Zoo Run 4.2k
This was the first race I ever ran and I was quite nervous. When I woke up, it was raining outside so I was considering staying in bed and missing the race. However, my sister wouldn’t have it so we got dressed and headed to the zoo. Luckily, the rain had stopped by the time we got there, and the infectious enthusiasm of the other runners finally caught on. With a heightened sense of excitement, I finished my first race, thanks to the best running buddy every – my sister.
2013 New Balance Run Faster 12k
For this second race, my sister and I followed Hal Higdon’s 10k novice plan. I started running distances I never imagined I’d be able to cover, and though my times were slow, I enjoyed myself, and I guess that’s what counts most. Unfortunately, it was pouring on the day of the race, and it didn’t stop raining. I had to face the inevitable and run in the rain for the first time. Panicking, I scoured running blogs for tips for running in the rain and found some good ones here and here. I can honestly say that it wasn’t the most pleasant run I’ve ever had, but luckily the course was flat, so it wasn’t too bad. I also discovered that I’m seriously terrible puddle jumper, making my shoes super wet. Oh well.
- 2013 Taiwan Outdoor Running Association 10k
It had been raining non stop the days prior to the race which made me really worried that I’d have to run another race in the rain. Thankfully, it didn’t start raining until after I finished. This was the first race I ran without my fav running buddy because she had charity work to do,*sigh*my sister the great big giver. Anyways, though this distance was a tad shorter than the previous race, it was way harder. The first half of the race was strictly uphill, getting progressively steeper right up to the turnaround point. Afterwards, it was all down hill, thank goodness. Oh and I cut the time way too close so I arrived about ten minutes after everyone else in the 10k group started. Good thing a chip timing system was used so10 extra minutes weren’t added to my time. Goal time for next 10k race: 1 hour,*sigh* it’s gonna take a lot of training for this dream of mine to become reality.
- Half-Marathon~training in progress
Signed up for this on a whim, really don’t know why I did it. This semester has seen training plan after training plan, with no breaks and even a little overlapping. I’m currently on week 7 of my half marathon training plan and the longest run I’ve had yet is 10k. Will I really be able to run 21k in five weeks? Only time will tell.
